I'm really liking these. Let's keep 'em going.
Alright, Batman vs. Darth Vader, who would win. Remember, no prep, just battle.
This one is really close, I think. Batman could avoid almost anything Darth threw at him, I think, but could he get past that light saber? Ah, but Darth has the Force, and that's sort of a trump card, isn't it? I guess I've got to go with Vader.

Thu, April 21, 2005 - 4:11 AMVarer's got this one. Batman has not chance against the invisible powers of the dark side. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 5:37 AMAll that Batman has to do it disconnect the radiator from the front of Vader....and then the crusty old white dude dies.... -

Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 6:02 AMI gotta go with Darth Vader here (Force Choke) -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 3:41 PMdefinitely vader. tough call, but batman is no match for the force.
-
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 3:49 PMVader ... not just that he's got the force ... he's got the dark side working for him ... -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 7:51 PM*sigh*
Hate to say it. . .
If there's no prep it's Vader all the way. Easy win too.
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 10:32 PMthe dark side rules. if john kerry was a jedi the election wouldve turned out better.... politics would be cool w/ the force. hm. interesting. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 12:49 AMI could see Kerry as a Jedi. He does the whole devoid-of-any-and-all-emotions thing really well.
But, for the sake of the tribe, lets all make a policy to avoid talking about politics in a group focusing on Batman. There are other tribes for that.
Unless, of course, we're talking about the politics of specific comic book characters. -

Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 8:07 AMBatman's a socialist........
As for Vader, he is one of those hippy earth lovers, what are they called again, oh yeah Earth Liberation Front or ELF......
Batman would still beat Vader because Vader forgot to take his senility medication today.....
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Fri, April 22, 2005 - 3:20 PMthats what vader lacked tho. botox wouldve made vader cooler. so in some senses kerry was more dark side than vader evil. thats rough.
i think if anything vader would be the closet marxist. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 1:10 AMOH FOR GODS SAKE!
Vader is a hardline facist, as any idiot who's taken Intro to Political Science would be able to tell! The state is what matters, not the individual, he serves an Emporer, and in Episode 2 he openly defended the idea of a dictatorship. He's Mussolini with a lightsaber.
Batman is a rich white guy from somewhere other than New England or California, which means he's a republican. -
-
-
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 5:35 PMThe battle wouldn't even take place, Vader would turn him to the dark side...Batman would be Vader's Robin. -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 5:46 PMOr Technically Vader's Apprentice -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 9:18 PMbatman is too strong willed. Wont never happen. Nope -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 9:29 PMVicious is right. Vader couldn't even turn a pansy like Luke to the Dark Side. No way Batman's turning. Vader will just force choke him and be done with it. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Sun, April 24, 2005 - 9:44 PMNo one is just "done with" Batman. I still think he woudl put up a decent fight. That effen lightsaber will be the end of it -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 7:28 AMYa know. . .
Technically I could see Vader force choking Batman, but Batman hanging on long enough to toss a BAtarang right into the "radiator" on Vaders chest, and then it would just be a matter of who suffocates first. BUT! If Vader is shocked by this turn of events and lets Bats go for a sec, that's all it would take for Batman to let loose and pummel Darth.
Batman has a chance. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 10:18 AMTo hell with Batmans never using a firearm...while Vaders busy with Natalie Portman, shoot him in the back. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 10:26 AMthen the thread would be "Punisher Vs. Vader" No guns, not with lethal intent, anyway -
-
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 11:44 AMI still think choking Batman would only distract vader from a batarang up the head, or at least a SOMEthing that would be used to break his concentration. An unfocused Vader is a vulnerable Vader. It is not like he is too mobile. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 11:47 AMKeep pushing those pamcakes...maybe if Batman said, "Anakin, I am your father!"?? I mean it's really a shame, they both love black, have capes. A wonderful fashion sense and obsession with bondage...come from a dark past. They really should be family. Ahhhh...what do ya say fellas? How about it? -

Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 1:42 PMGary's right. Batman would just assume the panal on Vader's chest is a weak spot, and be right. Once Vader's will would start to waver, Bats would go work, finshing the job. And with no way to actively contain and/or nutralze Vader as a threat to inocent lives, Bats would use lethal FORCE on Vader. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 2:44 PMI have to backtrack on what I said earlier. Batman would not go into any fight unprepared. He would do much research on Vader before facing him, therefore he would find some way to defeat him. Vaders vulnerable spot is his ego.
If it was a surprise attack however, Vader would definitely win.
-
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 3:27 PMThe intent I had when I started suggesting these matches is that they would be unprepared and sponteaneous, with no prep time, as everybody knows that Batman can whip anyone with enough prep time.
As for Garys point, Batman always has a chance, in any fight. That's one reason we all love him so much. But your logic has a flaw: Just becasue Vader is focusing on the choke doesn't mean that he's unaware of anything else. Remember that using the force is a sort of premonition, a total awarness of all the things around you. A Jedi's power FLOWS with the force, it can only be assumed that a Sith's power does likewise.
SO, while choking, Batman is able to get off a batarang, but Darth sees it coming a mile away and deflects it with his other hand (like he did with Han's blaster shots in Empire Strikes Back), or his lightsaber. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 3:35 PMyes, he might deflect something thrown, maybe even two things. That does not mean it would not provide enough of a distraction for Batman to attack again -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 8:53 PMHow about a well timed smoke bomb? Then take every chance to keep Vader overwelmed, inside the smoke? -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 10:00 PMDamn! I was just about to post that.
And you can't say Vader would see him, because Leia and Luke and everyone hid from him just fine.
And if then if nothing else, Bats calls in Nightwing, Robin, and any other help he has near. Doesn't he have something to call the Justice League? Yep. Supes and Green Lantern(s) would be there in record time, even if the fight is taking place in a galaxy far, far away. Vader is done. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Mon, April 25, 2005 - 11:36 PMNO NO NO NO NO!!!!! It's a fair fight between Batman and Darth Vader! No Robin, no Batmobile, no Green Lantern shooting kryptonight arrows at Superman. Bat's got his utility belt and costume, Vader's got his lightsaber, his suit, and the force. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Tue, April 26, 2005 - 8:11 AMwell I'm telling you that every member of the JLA has a card thingie on them that can call for help. If Bats has his utility belt, it's there. So if he had to (and I'm just sayin' "if"), Batman could call in the League to stomp the shit outta Darth.
He'd just be using the weapons at his disposal. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Tue, April 26, 2005 - 8:13 AMBesides, if Darth and Batman existed in the same universe, wouldn't we have to assume that the whole DC universe existed? If so, The Green Lantern Corps. would probably already be somewhere around trying to stop the empire from blowing up planets and stuff.
I'm just sayin'. . . -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Tue, April 26, 2005 - 9:41 AMsaying or not. We are just theorizing about the two of them. No outside interference. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Tue, April 26, 2005 - 9:01 PMAnd if we're talking current Batman post Idenity Crisis. I don't think he would call on the JLA, maybe Supes, but not the rest of those back-stabing-mind-wiping-lying-BASTARDS!!! Ahem. Sorry. No other DC heros, just the Bat and the Sith. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader

Probably Vader then. -

Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, April 28, 2005 - 8:48 AMjust 'cause we can't use logic.
Well that's just fine, but I don't care what anyone says Batman would still beat the hell out of Luke Skywalker. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, April 28, 2005 - 9:57 AMwell ... yeah ... I mean come on ... Luke? The only reason he beat Vader is because daddy went easy on him. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, April 28, 2005 - 12:56 PMLuke? Hell, Aquaman could probably beat Luke.
Batman could beat Luke fightng on his knees and blindfolded...while holding something fragile in both hands...and dangling upside down from the celing. God Luke's a pussy. "(whiny voice) there's good in you father, I FEEL it, I won't kill you, I'm a Jedi, look at me, blah blah blah." -

Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Wed, January 10, 2007 - 8:52 PMYeah, gotta say, doing the "no preparation" comparison guts Batman straightway. Why don't we do the "no Force & No prep" rules. Then you'd even it out.
Batman has backed Darkseid down. He's got more balls than Vader. Period. You wanna remove a character's strengths and throw them up against an ubermenschen go right ahead. It won't remotely resemble an even match.

-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, January 25, 2007 - 12:15 PMI was thinking that maybe Vader would try a force choke on Batman...but Bats would already have his suit designed with something to keep his throat from being crushed. The easiest thing to do would be to just sense Batman coming at him, know if he's a threat or not, and then give him a force anyu...aneurism...however the hell that word's spelled.
But if Batman is prepared...he's gonna go get an yslamiri (again, however those thing's names are spelled) to dampen Vader's force abilities and then the battle turns into a pyscho dressed like a rodent giving a beating to a middle-aged burn victim. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, January 25, 2007 - 5:18 PM>Bats would already have his suit designed with something to keep his throat from being crushed<
This seems flawed as the choking is a direct contraction of the throat muscles, not the collar of the clothing contracting around the throat. -
-
Unsu...
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Fri, January 26, 2007 - 7:38 PMI suspect Vader's powers are based on a will-against-will thing. After all, he couldn't crush Luke's throat, right? So forget about it, Bruce's will's strong as anyone's. Sure, Vader'd throw everything he's got to ol' Bruce (kitchen sink included), but, both in movies and comic-books, good always prevails...
(END SCENE: Vader and Batman drinkin' Guiness in a pub and rememorating old times... yeah, there was tis' fella I used to choke for fun... bah, that's nothing, I used to hang them down buildings and scare the living shit out of them... bwahahahah!!!!)

Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Thu, February 8, 2007 - 4:44 PMYyyyeah, I'm gonna agree with Faust. It isn't a fair fight if there's no prep allowed. The beauty of Batman is that he doesn't *need* super powers or the Force. He is the incarnation of brain over brawn. If Batman is not allowed prep time, then Vader should not be allowed the use of the Force. It's all about the character's strengths; without preparation, Batman's just a rich guy with a lot of mummy and daddy issues, so putting him up against a Sith Lord w/ no restrictions is just a massacre. -
-
Re: Batman vs. Darth Vader
Fri, February 9, 2007 - 9:58 AMNever a massacre. Even without prep, he will hold his own. With prep, he is almost unbeatable.
